As the new season started on Saturday with a 2v2 draw at home to Waltham Abbey which needed a late goal from Kurt Smith to get us into the game and an even later one from Martin Touhy to earn us our first point of the season.Moving on to tonights game at Maldon we started well and took the lead after 16 minutes through Martin Touhy and should have gone in at half time with a bigger lead,the second half saw us increase our score with a goal from Kurt Smith,but then some sloppy defending allowed Maldon back into the game and we had to defend for the remainder of the game, apart from a 30 yd free kick from Scott Holding that crashed against the bar.
I would like to welcome another member to my staff ,my son John will be East Thurrock scout this season, he has already started watching games for me and the first report on Waltham Abbey was excellent.
